PARENT EDUCATION NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH SANTA CLARA CITY LIBRARY

Las Madres Parent Education Committee are happy to announce we are starting a partnership Santa Clara City Library. Our first initiative with them is two webinars, presented by Parents Place, sponsored by Friends of the Northside Branch Library on Learning Pods, these events open to the public registration links for the individual events can be found in here.

Thinking about joining a “learning pod” this Fall? Unsure of where to start or how to go about it? With so much uncertainty from school districts, and recognizing the need for children to have safe, social connections with peers, parents are considering home-based, small group learning options for their kids. Parent's Place parent educator, Jaime Haydel, M.A,* will show you tips and tricks for creating a successful “learning pod,” consider the benefits and challenges of keeping everyone safe, and share your thoughts and questions with other parents who may join or start a pod of their own.

Eventbrite registration is required, and ends on Tuesday, August 4 at 12 pm. Register at: https://www.sclibrary.org/Home/Components/Calendar/Event/74284/7953.

Registrants will be sent access credentials on August 4 by 3 pm.

Cost: Free to members and guests

NOTE: A week later, on Tuesday, 8/11, a follow-up Parent Education webinar will be presented by the library on Resources for Learning Pods and Homeschoolers of Preschool - 5th grade.

Many parents are considering putting their school age children in “learning pods” or “pandemic pods” due to COVID-19. We will share resources that will help in creating lesson plans and curriculum based around supporting homeschooling or learning pods targeting school-age children in preschool through 5th grade.

- Great websites
- Hottest books and workbooks that support learning pods
- Lesson plan resources
- Apps and tech that support pods/homeschooling

NOTE: The first webinar in this series will take place on Tuesday, 8/4/20. It is recommended to attend that one first, but not required.

Eventbrite registration is required. Here is the link to register - https://www.sclibrary.org/Home/Components/Calendar/Event/74270/7953

Registration will end on Tuesday, August 11 at 12 pm.
